In consultation with WRDSB Equity and Inclusion personnel, our English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers, and members of our community, we support all Floradale Public School students, families, and staff by:

• Celebrating the fact that we have students who are fluent in two or more languages
• Aiming to use English exclusively during learning, especially in whole group scenarios
• Recognizing that the use of one’s first language during English language acquisition is beneficial – particularly in the early stages of learning (e.g., kindergarten to grade 4)
• Reminding students to consider whether they are being inclusive and respectful when speaking in the presence of others
• Being culturally sensitive when reminding students to use language in an inclusive, respectful manner
