Good afternoon,
I hope you had a wonderful summer with your children, family and friends. I am happy to be working with you again this year and look forward as we continue to build a strong home and school partnership to ensure we create an optimal environment for learning.
This year our staff will be attending a PA on September 3rd. For our teaching staff, this means that we will be working on our SIPSA (School Improvement Plan for Student Achievement) in the morning and staff will complete mandatory online training modules in the afternoon). As of today, our teachers continue to be in a strike position so we are unsure of how this morning will unfold. Negotiations between ETFO (Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario) and the provincial government are ongoing, so I am hopeful that an agreement will be reached in the very near future.
By now you should have received a report summary for your child. If you have not received it or have any questions please contact me.
The first day of school will be Tuesday, September 8th. This will be a Day 1 and we will begin classes at 9:25 am and our day will end at 3:45 pm. If you have any questions about bus transportation please call student transportation at 519-650-4934 ext. 231.
On Friday, September 4th at 3:30 pm at the front of the school (the glass by the front door or my office) we will post our class lists for next week. Please look for your child’s name by first name and last initial. Please also note that while we have applied much care and attention to placing students into their classes, there is always a possibility that due to re-structuring we will have to move one or students into another classroom. On the first day of school we will welcome back all of the students into the gym and organize them with their teacher. So, please do not worry if you cannot make it out to see which class your child is in as we will make sure this is taken care of on the morning of the first day.
Please consider coming to our school council meeting. This is a great way to meet people in your community and to hear about what is going on in your school. Look for another post shortly which will provide the date and time of this first important meeting.
